Recycle Your Roof

As a leading global manufacturer of commercial roofing systems, Firestone Building Products understands the importance of protecting the environment. To help preserve the Earth’s natural resources for future generations, we proudly manufacture a variety of roofing systems and insulation products that are recyclable or contain recycled content.

From EPDM and TPO membranes to metal systems and polyiso insulation, we give you the tools you need to create the most efficient, earth-friendly roofing projects available.

Industry Recycling Partnership
Since 2006, Firestone has worked closely with other industry leaders to help create the EPDM Roofing Association’s roof recycling program. In just three years, nearly five million square feet of EPDM membrane has been recycled and diverted from landfills.

Today, an easy-to-use EPDM roof recycling program extends throughout the United States and into Canada. The program is available for low-slope ballasted and mechanically attached commercial tear-offs and offers jobsite collection and transportation of roofing materials and polyiso insulation directly to a recycling center. Recycling can offer savings over traditional waste disposal fees and qualifies for LEED credits.

Firestone’s recycling efforts also include:
  • All Firestone UNA-CLAD Metal Roofing Systems are 100% recyclable and they use recycled content.
  • Virtually all production waste is recycled and reprocessed into the manufacturing cycle at our three UltraPly TPO plants.
  • Recycling initiatives at our RubberGard EPDM plants has decreased landfill waste by nearly 15%. The scrap rubber is used as ground cover for green houses, rubber mulch and other products.
